  • Finelite Doubles Industry Standard With 10-Year Product Warranty for Recessed LED Luminaires

Posted on February 18th, 2012 admin No comments

First-of-its-class product line delivers exceptional savings backed by optimal performance

Finelite Inc., a leader in high performance commercial building lighting systems, unveiled a new, industry-leading 10-year warranty for its High Performance Recessed LED (HPR-LED) luminaire collection. At twice the industry standard for lifetime operating hours, this warranty also doubles the standard coverage terms for optimal performance over the extended lifetime of the luminaire.

“This customer-friendly 10-year warranty demonstrates our absolute confidence in the robust luminaire design of HPR-LED, and our commitment to make lighting design a key driver for energy efficient buildings,” said Terry Clark, Finelite chairman and chief technology officer. “This is yet another assurance that our quality indoor LED luminaires are solidly backed by service levels Finelite customers have come to expect.”

The HPR-LED collection, introduced last fall, is a distinct new ambient luminaire for all conditioned spaces and is a critical part of Finelite’s commitment to a Net-Zero Energy future. It integrates Finelite’s mid-power LED approach to deliver exceptional energy efficiency and lumen maintenance over the product lifetime. With an independently verified L90 lifetime (90% lumen maintenance) of 100,000 hours, the warranty covers the luminaire, LED light engine, driver, replacement parts and shipping. If the luminaire delivers less than 90% light output during the 10-year warranty period, Finelite will supply the replacement parts. Finelite even makes the replacement process easy, as all HPR-LED luminaires are 100% serviceable from below.

With up to a 50% reduction in energy consumption, these energy-efficient lighting systems play an important part in increasing the sustainability of any building.

  • When Buying LED Lights, It’s Okay to Be a Brand Snob

Posted on December 12th, 2011 admin No comments

We’re sure that when you’re shopping for LED lights or any other significant building/home improvement, you do so with a discerning eye. The biggest criticism of LED lighting is the upfront cost, so of course you don’t want to invest in something that will fail before you enjoy a return on that investment.

This is why some research is important before you pull out that credit card. Fortunately, it’s relatively painless. Look for the name of the chip inside any LED light bulb or fixture that you consider. At this point in the industry, there is only a handful of key players with which you should be familiar. Cree, Nichia, and Bridgelux are the foremost chip-makers. Those are the brand names you should try to find on that LED light that you’re eying.

This no-name brand, however, probably won't affect your performance too much. Image via amazingdata.com via thechive.com.

Normally we try not to care too much about labels. But the truth is, the more established an LED company is, the more R&D that goes into their product, and the more dependable the results are. This is why LED Waves backs every Cree or Nichia-powered product in our selection with a 3 year warranty.

And for the handful of Cree LED lamps manufactured here in our Brooklyn facility under our watchful eyes – the Chicago LED PAR30, the New York LED PAR38, the Genesys LED T8 tubes, and the Midtown LED downlight – make that a 5 year warranty! Because, like the old adage about everything from chains, bridges, and even PR, an LED light is only as strong as its weakest link.

  • 2011—2015 China’s LED Lighting Market Research Report

Posted on October 20th, 2011 admin No comments

Chapter 1 Overview of the Chinese LED Lighting Market Supply Chain

    Introduction

Along with a constant increasing crude oil price pressure, and a rising awareness of energy-saving and carbon emission reduction, Light Emitting Diode (LED), as a solid-state lighting source, driven by the constant increase of its luminous efficacy and cost reduction, with the advantages such as small size, easy integration with system design, good color rendering, Light Emitting Diode (LED) has been substantially applied in the display industry, consumer electronics applications, and the automotive industry. Besides, the LED penetration rate has been gradually increasing year by year. Especially in the lighting industry, LED light source has been actively introduced. The great topic worth deep discussion by the whole LED lighting industry is how to develop a safe, humanized, and life-based product and how to promote LED to another wider application area by combining LED light source and the end application.

For all players in the LED industry, entering the Chinese market has become a solid trend that everyone cannot be withstood, as China will become not only the largest LED lighting production area in the world, but also the largest domestic market. Therefore, each player would like to take the first step to enter the Chinese market, in order to access market opportunities.

In recent years, the Chinese government has constantly promoted and supported the LED industry and has achieved considerably outstanding results. Since Chinese, Taiwanese, and foreign companies constantly invest in the Chinese market, a huge LED industry supply chain from the upstream, midstream, to downstream has been formed in China and the industrial cluster effect has also emerged very fast, including four areas, namely, northern area (Beijing and Dalian), Southeast area (Fujian), Pearl River Delta (PRD), and Yangtze River Delta (YRD). Among those, the highest centralization degree of the LED industry is PRD and YRD. Somebody said that if you walk from the beginning to the end of a street in the PRD, you can assemble an LED lamp by yourself. Although the saying is a bit exaggerating, it is not difficult to see the concentration degree of the LED industry.

Although the whole industry chain of LED illumination in China is quite complete and the comprehensive advantages of the industry is considerably obvious, as the supply chain of LED lighting in China is various, severe and enormous competition has also been formed. Even the large-scaled LED illumination enterprises at the high end of technology of Europe, the USA, and Japan, the manufacturers that flexibly develop with Taiwan investment, or the manufacturers in diversified development are very careful but covetous in Chinese LED lighting market. However, according to the observation up till now, most of the manufactures are confident but not very sure of success.

  • V2 Lighting Group to Debut CORE LED Lighting Fixture at LightShow/West

Posted on October 19th, 2011 admin No comments

v2 Lighting Group, Inc., the high-end modern lighting company known for innovative designs and meticulous quality, today announced it will introduce its new LED lighting fixture, CORE, at LightShow/West in Los Angeles on October 26th and 27th.

CORE is a cylindrical luminaire that can be easily modified to fit in (or stand out) in any commercial or residential design project—from Art Deco to mid-century modern to futuristic. It incorporates the industry-leading Xicato LED module to deliver the highest quality light available on the market today.

The fixture’s CNC-machined aluminum shell is available with several standard or custom-designed laser-cut openings and can be anodized or powder coated in almost any color. The aluminum heat sink displayed inside the shell can be anodized in a matching or contrasting color. An optional internal reflector ring illuminates the heat sink and accentuates the design of the fixture.

“We created CORE to allow for significant design freedom,” says Chris Varrin, founder of v2 Lighting Group. “The cutout, finish, and color options alone offer more than 5,000 variations and we can deliver all of them without extra lead time or cost.”

The CORE series includes pendant, sconce, surface mount, mono point, track, and bollard versions, all of which are suitable for wet locations. CORE comes in two sizes: the CORE 200 ( 8” x 3.5”) and the CORE 300 (12” x 4.5”).

A wide range of Xicato LED Modules include 400, 700, 1000, 1300 and 2000 lumen packages with a choice of 2700K, 3000K, and 4000K color temperatures, as well as >80 CRI or >95 CRI. The fixtures feature a toolless, field-changeable reflector system with 20°, 40° and 60° beam patterns. CORE is dimmable with standard phase control or 0-10v and can be dimmed smoothly from full brightness to 0%.

CORE can be ordered now. Currently in compliance testing, it will ship before the end of the year. For more information, contact Cheryl Cardamon at Cheryl@v2LightingGroup.com or (707) 383-4600, extension 104.
